In a heartening turn of events, four young students emerged completely unharmed after a private school bus they were traveling in was involved in an accident near Karumathampatti, Coimbatore, on Wednesday, October 22, 2025.
Police officials confirmed that the bus belonged to Sri Chaitanya Techno School, located in Neelambur.
The incident unfolded on Wednesday morning as the bus, with just four students on board and driven by Maheswaran from Elachipalayam, was navigating the Salem-Kochi highway. According to the police report, the driver attempted to maneuver the vehicle onto a service road, resulting in a collision with the divider separating it from the main highway.
Passersby and other motorists quickly rushed to assist the students, who were promptly transferred to another bus and safely taken to their school. Karumathampatti police arrived at the scene and secured the damaged vehicle.
However, the accident has raised eyebrows among local residents, who voiced concerns about the bus’s overall condition, particularly highlighting its visibly worn-out tyres. They suggested that the poor tyre condition might have contributed to the bus skidding on the wet road.
Responding to these allegations, a school official asserted that all their buses undergo stringent and regular maintenance checks. The official also clarified that the bus involved, although bearing a college’s name, had been acquired and was in use by the school.
District Collector Pavankumar G. Giriyappanavar has assured the public that a thorough investigation will be conducted into the allegations of inadequate bus maintenance.
