Sharan Prakash Patil, who serves as the Minister for Skill Development and the Raichur district in-charge, recently declared that officials would be held fully accountable for any complaints received regarding the delayed or insufficient distribution of crop loss compensation to affected farmers.
During a pivotal meeting in Raichur on Friday, Minister Patil stressed the critical need for a meticulous joint survey to accurately assess agricultural losses and damage to livestock caused by the recent heavy rainfall and subsequent flooding in the district.
He reiterated the State government’s firm commitment to safeguarding the interests of farmers and the general public who have suffered extensive losses from the severe deluge over the past few days. “Officers must approach this flood situation with utmost seriousness and ensure a thorough and accurate assessment of all damages,” he added, underlining the urgency of the matter.
Echoing this sentiment, Minister for Minor Irrigation N.S. Boseraju urged officers to personally visit all flood-stricken areas to guarantee the integrity and precision of the joint survey process.
Meanwhile, local MLAs Shivaraj Patil, Basanagouda Daddal, and Basanagouda Turvihal collectively called upon GESCOM officials to expedite the restoration of electricity supply, highlighting the widespread damage to hundreds of poles and numerous transformers.
In response, Deputy Commissioner Nitish K. provided an update, stating that approximately 25,000 hectares of standing crops had been devastated, with only 18% of the damage survey completed to date.
The meeting also saw the presence of MLA Hampayya Naik, Karemma G. Naik, Mahanagar Palike Commissioner Jubin Mohapatra, and Superintendent of Police G. Puttamadaiah, among other key dignitaries.
