Authorities have officially seized Medha School in Bowenpally after enforcement agencies uncovered an illicit alprazolam manufacturing unit operating on its premises. In response, the School Education Department announced on Monday that all students would be transferred to nearby schools, prioritizing parents’ choices to minimize disruption.
Mandal Educational Officer, Harichandan, along with other senior officials, personally inspected the affected school. He confirmed that Medha School serves 63 students from classes 1 to 7 and assured the public that the department is committed to taking all necessary steps to safeguard the children’s academic year and ensure their seamless transition.
Mr. Harichandan highlighted the availability of approximately five other schools in the vicinity, including the Mandal Parishad Primary School. He further stated that all students would be appropriately placed after thorough consultations with their parents.
On Monday, parents were left in a state of anxiety and confusion regarding the next steps, as neither the principal nor the teachers were present at the school. Concerns were raised about various practical issues, including the recovery of previously paid school fees, potential new expenses at alternative schools, the impact on children’s test preparations, and the overall emotional stress this situation would cause.
