Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan, the chief of the Ittehad-e-Millat Council and a key figure accused of inciting violence in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, will remain in judicial custody for an additional 14 days. This decision was made on Tuesday, with the next court hearing scheduled for November 11. Maulana Raza has been held in Fatehgarh Central Jail since September 27, following clashes that erupted in Bareilly after a controversy surrounding “I Love Mohammad” posters. The incidents, which involved alleged attacks on police personnel during a gathering of his supporters, led to ten First Information Reports (FIRs) being filed across various police stations. Initially named in seven FIRs, Maulana Raza’s involvement in three others was added during the investigation. He is also facing older cases related to the 2019 anti-CAA-NRC protests. Due to security and law-and-order concerns, his court appearances will continue to be conducted via video-conferencing.
