In a significant operation, officials from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) and the Vigilance and Enforcement Departments recently conducted raids in Gollapudi. Their target was a wholesale dry fruit supplier, where they uncovered and confiscated a substantial amount of expired products.
These raids took place on Tuesday, acting on explicit directives from both the Regional Vigilance and Enforcement Officer and the Commissioner of Food Safety. The operation specifically focused on G.M. Food Products. A specialized team, spearheaded by Assistant Food Controller B. Srinivas (covering Krishna and NTR districts), Food Inspector Ravindra Reddy, and Vigilance Inspector Umer, thoroughly inspected the facility after receiving an anonymous tip-off. Their diligent efforts led to the seizure of numerous outdated items.
Assistant Food Controller Mr. Srinivas confirmed to The Hindu on Wednesday that the confiscated items included packets of strawberry milk flavor, pista milk flavor, and glaze gel, collectively estimated to be worth approximately ₹1.55 lakh. Consequently, a formal case has been filed against the shop owner under Section 58 of the FSSAI Act, 2006. Samples of the seized products have also been collected for detailed analysis. Mr. Srinivas further stated that once presented before the Joint Collector’s court, the entire seized stock would be systematically destroyed.
