Early Monday morning, a large blaze erupted at a private electrical appliance warehouse situated in Enikepadu village, just outside Vijayawada. The incident, occurring on October 6th, quickly drew a significant emergency response.
The fire caused extensive destruction, with electrical appliances valued at several lakhs of rupees completely destroyed. Despite the substantial material losses, officials from the AP State Disaster Response and Fire Services department confirmed the crucial news: there were no casualties reported, a true relief amidst the devastation.
NTR District Fire Officer A.V. Shankar Rao, who personally oversaw the operation, informed The Hindu that the emergency call came in at 8:10 a.m., promptly dispatching six fire tenders from both NTR and Krishna districts. Firefighters battled the intense flames for over three hours, successfully bringing the situation under control by approximately 11:45 a.m.
A dedicated team of approximately 30 fire service personnel worked tirelessly to suppress the inferno. While the immediate cause of the fire remains unknown, authorities have launched an investigation.
Both police and revenue officials visited the scene to assess the damage and commence proceedings. A formal case has been registered, and a thorough investigation is currently underway to determine the exact circumstances that led to this costly incident, as confirmed by Mr. Shankar Rao.
