The illicit consignment was discovered on a goods train stationed at Jirania railway station, with the announcement made by police on Friday, October 17, 2025.
This substantial recovery was the culmination of an intensive search operation that commenced late Thursday afternoon, around 4:30 p.m. on October 16, 2025, and extended into the early hours of Friday.
An official statement highlighted this as a crucial success in the ongoing battle against drug trafficking. The operation was a collaborative effort involving the Government Railway Police Force (GRP), the Customs Department, and a specialized Special Task Force (STF), all working in tandem on Thursday, October 16, 2025.
During the meticulously planned raid, the joint teams successfully located and confiscated an astonishing 90,000 bottles of the prohibited Escuf syrup, each containing 100 ml. These illicit packages were discovered hidden within two goods train wagons that were parked at Jirania railway station in West Tripura.
Despite the significant nature of this seizure, authorities have confirmed that no arrests have been made in connection with the incident so far, indicating that the investigation is still actively underway to identify those responsible.
