A controversial letter, purportedly issued by the banned CPI (Maoist) Telangana State Committee, recently surfaced on social media, announcing a significant six-month extension of their ceasefire. The statement, reportedly bearing the name of Jagan, the official spokesperson for the outlawed organization’s State committee, claims this extension is a direct response to the wishes of the people. According to the circulated letter, various political parties, mass organizations, and civil society groups in Telangana actively campaigned for the continuation of a peaceful environment during April, May, and June of this year. The statement asserts that the State government also acknowledged and responded positively to these public aspirations. Building on a previous six-month ceasefire declared in May, which the group claims to have upheld, this new extension aims to further align with the public’s desire for peace. However, authorities are yet to officially verify the authenticity of this widely circulated letter, and police have not confirmed its veracity.
