Former Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, alongside three fellow BJP legislators, embarked on a journey to New Delhi on Saturday, October 4, 2025. Their primary objective: to engage with central party leaders and advocate for the establishment of a popular government within the state.
The delegation departed from Imphal in the early afternoon, around 1:30 p.m.
Speaking to reporters at the airport, Mr. Singh articulated the purpose of their visit. He stated, ‘We intend to brief the central leadership on the current law and order situation in Manipur. Additionally, we will discuss the urgent need for forming a popular government, address issues concerning internally displaced persons (IDPs), and highlight critical highway-related concerns.’
BJP MLA Thongam Robindro, also part of the traveling group, confirmed the delegation’s intent, noting, ‘Several MLAs are heading to the national capital to engage with central leaders.’
Notably, former ministers Sapam Ranjan and Heikham Dingo were among those accompanying Mr. Singh on this important visit.
According to party insiders, the leaders have scheduled a meeting with Sambit Patra, the BJP’s Northeast in-charge, and are also seeking an appointment with Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Sources further indicate that more MLAs, including Assembly Speaker T. Satyabrata Singh, are anticipated to travel to Delhi in the upcoming days.
