A tattoo artist was arrested for allegedly pointing a revolver at a person following a road accident in the city, officials said on Monday. The arrested individual has been identified as Robin John, who owns a tattoo studio in Muttathara.
The incident occurred around 9:15 PM on Sunday near Aristo Junction. According to the police, John’s car allegedly collided with another vehicle as he was exiting a hotel’s premises. This led to a heated verbal exchange between John and the two occupants of the other car.
As the argument intensified, John reportedly grabbed one of the individuals by the collar. When his friend intervened, John allegedly went to his car, retrieved a revolver, and pointed it at Nasumudeen from Muttathara, threatening to shoot him.
A crowd that had gathered at the scene promptly alerted the police. Authorities arrived quickly, took John into custody, and initiated an investigation.
The Thampanoor police have filed a case against John under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including attempt to murder, and under Section 27 of the Arms Act for the illegal use of firearms. While John claims to possess a license for the revolver, he has yet to provide any documentation to the police.
Authorities are currently working to trace the origin of the weapon. The accused is expected to be produced in court soon.
