Earlier this week, the film, directed by debutant Jithin Jose K, received a U/A certificate from the censor board.
Kalamkaval, co-written by Jishnu Sreekumar and Jithin, is rumored to feature the veteran actor in the chilling role of serial killer Mohan Kumar, infamously known as Cyanide Mohan. Kumar was convicted for the rape and murder of multiple women under the false promise of marriage.
Faisal Ali is responsible for the cinematography, while Mujeeb Majeed handles the music direction for the project. Praveen Prabhakar serves as the editor.
Mammootty’s previous appearance this year was in Bazooka. He then took a break from acting, citing health reasons. His last role was a cameo as Muthoon in Lokah Chapter 1 : Chandra. In early October, the teaser for Patriot, an eagerly awaited Malayalam collaboration directed by Mahesh Narayanan and starring both Mohanlal and Mammootty, was also unveiled. The film boasts a stellar cast including Fahadh Faasil, Kunchacko Boban, and Nayanthara.
Jithin Jose K previously penned the screenplay for the 2021 crime thriller Kurup, which starred Dulquer Salman, Sobhita Dhulipala, and Indrajith Sukumaran, under the direction of Srinath Rajendran.
