Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) founder S. Ramadoss recently made a pivotal announcement, appointing Tamil Kumaran, the son of MLA G.K. Mani, as the new president of the party’s youth wing. This significant decision was shared during a press conference held at his Thailapuram residence, near Tindivanam, on October 2, 2025.
Mr. Ramadoss clarified that he had previously appointed Mr. Kumaran to this very position and had even issued the official order. However, this initial appointment was short-lived. Anbumani Ramadoss, who Mr. Ramadoss stated had been ‘expelled’ from the party, reportedly pressured Mr. Kumaran to resign immediately.
Further elaborating on the internal conflict, Mr. Ramadoss alleged that Anbumani Ramadoss had also called him, insisting that Mr. Kumaran and his family be prevented from attending the general council meeting. Following Mr. Kumaran’s forced resignation, Mr. Ramadoss had then appointed his grandson, Mukunthan (who is Anbumani’s nephew), to the vacant post.
Despite these appointments being made directly by the party founder, Mr. Ramadoss claimed that Anbumani Ramadoss refused to accept either Mr. Kumaran or Mr. Mukunthan in the role. This left the youth wing presidency unfilled until the current announcement, which officially reinstates Tamil Kumaran.
Meanwhile, supporters of Anbumani Ramadoss maintain their stance that he remains the legitimate party president, highlighting ongoing factional tensions within the PMK.
In a separate but important note, Mr. Ramadoss also addressed the recent tragic stampede at actor Vijay’s TVK rally in Karur. He urged all political parties to implement robust precautionary measures to prevent such unfortunate incidents from happening again in the future.
