A significant criminal operation has been uncovered in Kusumanchi, Khammam district, leading to the arrest of five individuals involved in a large-scale land record forgery scam. The gang specialized in creating counterfeit “pattadar passbooks” (land ownership documents) and defrauding numerous farmers in Jakkepalli village.
Authorities successfully apprehended five suspects: Kotha Jeevan Reddy (53) from Jakkepalli, K. Karthik (36) from Mahabubabad district, P. Saikushal (28), J. Varaprasad (39), and N. Laxman Rao (43), all from Bhadradri Kothagudem district. During the arrests, police confiscated two vehicles and ten fake pattadar passbooks, crucial evidence of their illicit activities.
The arrests were made after a farmer, who had been swindled by the group, filed a formal complaint. He detailed how the fraudsters had taken money from him, promising to assist in obtaining a genuine pattadar passbook, only to provide a fraudulent one. Investigations reveal that this was not an isolated incident, and the gang had deceived multiple farmers through similar schemes involving these fabricated land documents.
