A significant financial fraud has shaken the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) in Annamayya district. Following a thorough investigation, the Rajampeta depot manager and five other staff members were suspended on Saturday, September 20, due to alleged irregularities at a petrol pump operated by the corporation.
Police have initiated criminal proceedings against 29 individuals believed to be involved in the scam, which saw approximately ₹68 lakh siphoned from the petrol pump’s transactions. The pump, which began operations on December 7 of the previous year, was reportedly exploited by its operators who manipulated technical vulnerabilities to divert funds.
M. Ramu, the Regional Manager of APSRTC for Annamayya district, confirmed the findings of the financial fraud probe, indicating that further decisive actions would be taken. Officials have underscored their commitment to implementing stringent measures to ensure accountability and prevent similar illicit activities from occurring in the future.
