In a powerful demonstration of commitment to women’s economic upliftment, Tamil Nadu’s Minister for Labour and Skill Development, C.V. Ganesan, recently presided over an event in Cuddalore where a massive ₹113.24 crore in bank loans was distributed.
This crucial financial assistance reached 1,148 deserving self-help groups (SHGs) within the district. The initiative, orchestrated by the Tamil Nadu Corporation for Development of Women, is set to directly empower 19,540 individual members, significantly enhancing their livelihoods and fostering greater financial independence.
Minister Ganesan further highlighted the broader impact of such schemes, noting that under the Tamil Nadu Rural Livelihood Mission, poverty alleviation efforts through SHGs have already seen remarkable success, with 84,854 groups receiving a staggering ₹5,091 crore across the state since 2021.
District Collector Sibi Adhithya Senthil Kumar was also present, underscoring the collaborative effort behind this impactful distribution.
