Hyderabad witnessed a series of decisive actions as the Telangana Excise and Prohibition Department successfully dismantled multiple illicit operations involving illegal liquor and black jaggery. These coordinated raids, conducted across Hyderabad and its surrounding districts, have led to several arrests and the issuance of notices to individuals suspected of engaging in this unlawful trade.
In Shamshabad, a routine vehicle inspection on the main road led to the interception of 16 individuals attempting to transport liquor from Goa. The vigilant Rangareddy enforcement team confiscated a total of 125 premium liquor bottles, with an estimated market value exceeding ₹7.5 lakh. In a separate incident within Musheerabad, six similar bottles were recovered from the residence of Naresh in Achaya Nagar, resulting in his immediate booking.
Further intensifying their efforts, the State Task Force (SYF) B team intercepted a vehicle laden with a substantial amount of black jaggery, an ingredient commonly used in the illicit production of alcohol. The vehicle was stopped while en route from Hyderabad to Nagarkurnool. Authorities successfully seized 2,010 kilograms of black jaggery and 50 kilograms of alum. Additionally, the goods carrier vehicle and two mobile phones were confiscated as part of the operation.
Following this significant interception, three individuals identified as Mahesh, Maharshi, and Qasim were taken into custody. The total value of the seized items from this single operation alone is approximately ₹4.56 lakh. Investigations into all these cases are currently ongoing as authorities work diligently to uncover the full extent of these illegal networks and bring all involved parties to justice.
