In a crucial development for national security, Punjab Police announced the arrest of a man reportedly linked to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). The suspect was found in possession of two hand grenades, marking a significant win against cross-border illicit activities.
Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav confirmed the arrest in a public statement, identifying the individual as Ravinder Singh, also known as Ravi, a resident of Tarn Taran. “In a major breakthrough, Amritsar Rural Police apprehends Ravinder Singh @ Ravi, resident of Tarn Taran and recovers 2 hand grenades,” DGP Yadav stated.
Preliminary investigations have shed light on the nature of the alleged criminal’s activities, revealing that he was actively in contact with ISI agents from Pakistan. Authorities believe he received the consignment of hand grenades directly from across the border, indicating a potential cross-border terror plot.
An official First Information Report (FIR) has been lodged at the Gharinda police station in Amritsar, initiating a comprehensive legal process. DGP Yadav assured the public that “Further investigation is underway to unearth the entire network.”
The Punjab Police reiterated its firm stance against any elements threatening public order. “Punjab Police remains committed to neutralising terror networks, eliminating organised crime and ensuring peace and public safety across the state,” the DGP emphasized, underscoring the ongoing efforts to maintain security and stability in the region.
