Indian Railways has officially approved a significant allocation of ₹60 lakh for the crucial task of tarring and renovating the approach roads leading to level crossings on the Chingavanam-Chottanikkara railway line. This important announcement was made by Kottayam MP Francis George.
For too long, these essential access roads, which fall under the direct ownership of the Railways, have been neglected, as other local departments deferred maintenance responsibility. This oversight has led to a severe deterioration of the road conditions, creating considerable inconvenience and posing serious safety risks for daily commuters and pedestrians alike. Disturbingly, the poor state of these stretches has frequently contributed to accidents, especially for those on two-wheelers, as highlighted by MP George in a recent statement from Kottayam.
The approval of these much-needed funds comes after productive discussions held between the Member of Parliament and senior railway authorities. With the detailed estimates now prepared and all tender procedures successfully concluded, the repair work is expected to commence very soon, promising a safer and smoother travel experience for everyone using these vital railway crossings.
