In a significant development, the VII Additional District and Sessions Court in Ongole has announced its verdict in a murder case, condemning the accused to life imprisonment and imposing a fine of ₹1,000.
The tragic incident occurred on the night of April 13, 2023, when Kadiyam Hanumantha Rao, aged 80, engaged in an altercation with Sangana Subba Reddy, 45, who was employed as a watchman at a government wine shop located on Madduluru Road in Kondapi village. The following morning, Subba Reddy was discovered lifeless in front of the wine shop, with visible injuries around his neck.
Prompted by a complaint filed by Sangana Suseela, the wife of the deceased, the Kondapi police initiated a thorough investigation, registering a case under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code. This led to the subsequent arrest of the accused individual.
During the final hearing held on Friday, Justice T. Raja Venkatadri, presiding over the VII Additional District and Sessions Court, pronounced the judgment, thereby confirming the life sentence and the stipulated fine.
