The National Lawyers Forum for Social Justice has unequivocally condemned the alarming assault on Chief Justice of India B. R. Gavai, an incident allegedly perpetrated by advocate Rakesh Kishore.
In a powerful display of solidarity, advocates from across Kurnool took to the streets on Tuesday to protest this egregious act. Addressing the gathering, forum president Y. Jaya Raju articulated the deep shame and indignation felt throughout the legal profession. He stated that such a “heinous act” by a member of the Bar casts a dark shadow over the entire fraternity. “We express our profound shock, outrage, and firmly denounce this willful and intentional act of the advocate, who resorted to communal sloganeering in open court, thereby bringing immense disrepute to our entire legal community,” he declared.
Mr. Jaya Raju also commended the Chief Justice of India for his remarkable composure and dignified response, noting that Justice Gavai continued with court proceedings, unfazed by the provocative actions.
Emphasizing the gravity of the situation, Mr. Jaya Raju asserted, “This incident is nothing short of an attack on the very foundation of the judiciary, an institution entrusted with the sacred duty of upholding the Constitution, the rule of law, and the fundamental rights of every citizen.” He voiced suspicions that “anti-Constitutional and communal hegemonic forces” might be orchestrating such incidents. In light of these concerns, he urgently demanded a thorough judicial probe to expose these hidden forces and bring the complete truth to light.
