A man in Anantapur has been sentenced to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) and fined ₹5,000 by the Special POCSO Court for the sexual assault of a minor girl. The court further ordered a compensation of ₹4.5 lakh to be paid to the victim, ensuring financial support alongside the severe punitive action.
The heinous incident, which brought this case to light, occurred in December 2020. The accused, identified as Bandi Adinarayana from Erravankapalli village, entered the victim’s home and committed the assault while she was alone. Prompt action by the family led to the Nallamada police registering a case and initiating a thorough investigation. A comprehensive charge-sheet was subsequently filed with the Special POCSO Court in Anantapur.
After meticulously reviewing all presented evidence and hearing witness testimonies, the court found Adinarayana unequivocally guilty. Superintendent of Police (SP) Satish Kumar commended the dedication of the investigating officers, the special public prosecutor, and the entire police force, whose diligent efforts were instrumental in securing this crucial conviction and bringing justice to the victim.
