HYDERABAD: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao has strongly condemned the state’s Congress government and the Hyderabad Road Development Corporation (HYDRAA) for their relentless demolition of homes belonging to the underprivileged. He highlighted that these drives are being carried out even on court holidays, blatantly disregarding clear directives from the High Court.
Addressing party members from the Borabanda Division in the Jubilee Hills Assembly Constituency on Monday, Rama Rao cautioned that after Sunday’s demolition efforts in Gajularamaram, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy might soon unleash HYDRAA on Borabanda.
He argued that casting a vote for Congress in the upcoming Jubilee Hills by-election would effectively grant permission to the “bulldozer government” to continue razing the homes of poor families within the constituency. Rama Rao specifically mentioned the demolition of BRS activist Sardar’s house, pledging his personal commitment to rebuild it.
The BRS leader accused HYDRAA of targeting only the poor, questioning why no action is taken against wealthy individuals who have constructed lavish homes on government land or within the Full Tank Level (FTL) areas and buffer zones of water bodies across the city. He pointed to prominent examples, including the residences of Ministers Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy and Gaddam Vivekanand, which are reportedly located in FRL/BZ areas.
Regional Ring Road Victims Seek KTR’s Intervention
In a separate development, residents from Nalgonda, Suryapet, Siddipet, and Sangareddy districts, whose lands are impacted by the Regional Ring Road (RRR) project, met with K.T. Rama Rao. They voiced their significant concerns over the arbitrary changes in the project’s alignment, which have caused them considerable losses. They recalled voting for Congress based on assurances from Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi that farmers would not be adversely affected.
However, they lamented that after assuming power, the Congress government altered the alignment, allegedly to safeguard the positions of certain officials by transferring funds to Delhi. They added that a letter addressed to Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy regarding their plight had unfortunately yielded no results.
