A construction site in Kakkodi, Kozhikode, turned into a scene of tragedy today as a migrant worker from Odisha lost his life when a compound wall unexpectedly collapsed.
The incident occurred while Uday Manji, the deceased, and two of his colleagues were diligently working on building a new compound wall for a house. Suddenly, an old wall from an adjacent property gave way, crashing down upon them. All three workers were immediately rushed to the Government Medical College Hospital in Kozhikode. Sadly, Uday Manji was pronounced dead upon arrival.
His two co-workers sustained minor injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment at the hospital. The local Fire and Rescue Services team from Vellimadukunnu station promptly arrived at the site. They played a crucial role in rescuing the trapped workers, as residents faced significant challenges in moving the heavy debris.
