Travelers between Kerala and Bengaluru can rejoice! Rajeev Chandrasekhar, the BJP State president, recently confirmed that the Union government has officially sanctioned a new Vande Bharat Express route. This highly anticipated high-speed train will connect Ernakulam to Bengaluru, with stops planned in Thrissur and Palakkad.
This will mark the third Vande Bharat train for Kerala, and its service is projected to commence operations by mid-November. Chandrasekhar shared this significant announcement following an online meeting with Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, extending heartfelt thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for facilitating this crucial infrastructure upgrade for the state.
The introduction of this Vande Bharat service is expected to offer immense relief to countless Keralites who frequently travel to Bengaluru. The existing routes often grapple with heavy traffic, especially during festive seasons and special occasions, leading to exorbitant fares for alternative modes of transport. With a large population of Keralites, particularly in the thriving IT sector, residing and working in Bengaluru, there has been a persistent and growing demand for more efficient and affordable train connectivity.
Hibi Eden, MP, also welcomed the Centre’s decision. He highlighted his previous engagements with the Union Railway Minister and other officials, where he presented comprehensive data and statistics demonstrating how an additional Vande Bharat train on the Ernakulam-Bengaluru route would yield substantial benefits for both passengers and the railway system. This new express service is poised to significantly enhance travel convenience for professionals, technocrats, students, and other regular commuters alike.
