Kerala State Electronics Development Corporation (Keltron) is poised for significant growth, with Industries Minister P. Rajeeve announcing an ambitious target of ₹2,000 crore in turnover by 2031. This bold goal is a cornerstone of Keltron’s ‘Vision 2031’ initiative, aimed at solidifying its position as a key player in India’s industrial landscape.
The Minister made this announcement at the foundation stone laying ceremony for the Electronic Integration Bay of Keltron Krasny Defence Systems Private Limited (KKDS) in Aroor. Rajeeve highlighted Keltron’s crucial and unmatched contributions to the defense sector, noting its current collaborations with international partners, including companies in Vietnam.
Beyond its corporate growth, the government’s broader vision includes transforming every household into a vibrant enterprise hub. This innovative approach would allow 50% of residential space to be legally used for entrepreneurial activities, while vacant homes could be entirely repurposed as business units. This initiative seeks to democratize entrepreneurship and boost local economies.
Furthermore, ‘Vision 2031’ is committed to generating extensive small-scale employment. A significant focus is on empowering educated homemakers through specialized training for electronic assembly work, with Keltron expected to be a central facilitator. The government is also actively working to create opportunities within Kerala for approximately 40,000 highly skilled professionals returning from overseas, aiming to integrate their expertise into universities and higher education institutions.
To further reinforce Kerala’s knowledge economy and industrial base, approval has already been granted for establishing ten campus industrial parks across the state.
The newly launched KKDS, described by the Minister as a landmark achievement for the defense sector, will harness Keltron’s advanced technological capabilities to produce cutting-edge underwater defense electronic systems, marking a new chapter in the company’s strategic endeavors.
The event was presided over by MLA Daleema Jojo.
