On this year’s auspicious Ayurveda Day, Kerala proudly introduces 12 groundbreaking AYUSH projects, representing a substantial investment of ₹14.39 crore. These initiatives are designed to significantly enhance health and wellness services across the state, with some already actively serving the community.
Among the core offerings are comprehensive maternity care programs, an advanced e-hospital system seamlessly connecting 240 institutions, an innovative AYUSH Yoga Club mobile application to foster daily yoga practices, and specialized clinics dedicated to managing non-communicable diseases. Health Minister Veena George will officially inaugurate the Ayurveda Day celebrations and formally launch these vital projects.
A cornerstone of these new ventures is ‘Suthikamitram,’ a program focused on providing expectant and new mothers with science-backed, Ayurveda-based prenatal and postnatal care. This ensures that essential services are readily accessible for both mothers and their children throughout Kerala. Complementing this is ‘Supraja,’ a comprehensive maternal and child health initiative aimed at elevating the well-being of women during pregnancy and after childbirth, while also nurturing the healthy development of their children.
To champion the preventative power of yoga against lifestyle ailments, over 10,000 yoga clubs are already thriving statewide. The new AYUSH Yoga Club app will further empower residents by easily connecting them with nearby clubs, making it simpler than ever to integrate yoga into their daily lives.
Furthermore, specialized clinics for non-communicable diseases are poised to offer comprehensive Ayurvedic interventions. These clinics will leverage the full potential of Ayurveda in preventing and effectively managing various lifestyle-related illnesses.
For those facing economic challenges, the ‘Ayurkarma’ scheme, accessible through government-run Ayurveda dispensaries, will provide extensive Ayurvedic treatments, including advanced Panchakarma therapies.
Finally, the National Programme for Prevention and Management of Osteoarthritis and Other Musculoskeletal Disorders stands as a significant public health endeavor. Its goal is to prevent, control, and treat a wide array of musculoskeletal conditions, including osteoarthritis. The accompanying specialty clinic for Joint and musculoskeletal disorders will ensure that the profound benefits of Ayurveda, particularly effective in treating joint-related issues, are widely available to everyone.
