The United Democratic Front (UDF) in Kerala is continuing its sit-in protest within the State Assembly for a second consecutive day. Their strong demand is for the immediate dismissal of police officers implicated in the alleged custodial torture of Congress worker V.S. Sujith. This grave incident reportedly occurred in 2023 at the Kunnumkulam police station in Thrissur district.
The decision for this indefinite strike was declared by Leader of the Opposition V.D. Satheesan. He made the announcement during an adjournment debate held in the House on Tuesday, which focused on widespread concerns regarding police high-handedness and the use of third-degree interrogation methods.
Esteemed senior figures from the Congress party, including Ramesh Chennithala, have visited the protesting Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) to offer their full support and solidarity.
