Authorities in Alappuzha, Kerala, have apprehended a woman following a distressing incident where her four-and-a-half-year-old son suffered severe burns from a hot ladle in Kandalloor, near Kayamkulam.
Police reports indicate that the mother’s act was a result of extreme anger after the young boy soiled his trousers. The child sustained painful burns across his back and legs. The formal complaint was filed by the child’s grandmother, who accused the mother of deliberately inflicting these injuries as a form of punishment.
The mother herself brought the injured child to the hospital. She initially claimed to medical staff that the boy’s burns occurred when he accidentally sat on a hot chapati stone.
However, medical professionals quickly became suspicious of the nature of the injuries and promptly notified both the police and the Child Welfare Committee. Adding to the gravity of the situation, the child bravely provided a statement implicating his mother in the abuse.
