The State Election Commission (SEC) has scheduled a significant meeting with various political parties for Wednesday, October 29, 2025. The purpose of this gathering is to finalize the arrangements for the upcoming local body elections across Kerala.
Led by A. Shajahan, the Commission announced that both national and state-level parties are invited to send a single representative to the meeting, which will take place at Hotel Mascot in Thiruvananthapuram, the state capital.
While the official election schedule is yet to be declared, expectations are high that voters in Kerala will head to the polls sometime between late November and early December of 2025.
Kerala’s Electoral Roll: Key Figures
According to the final voter’s list recently released by the Commission, Kerala’s total electorate stands at 28,430,761. Consistent with previous trends, Malappuram district once again boasts the highest number of voters with 3,574,802, while Wayanad district records the lowest at 640,183. These figures were part of the detailed district-wise breakdown of the electoral roll provided by the Commission.
The updated electoral roll was formally published by the Commission on the night of Saturday, October 25, 2025, with the comprehensive district-wise breakdown following on Sunday, October 26, 2025.
Among the 281 transgender voters registered statewide, Malappuram leads with 49, while Wayanad has the fewest with 8.
The latest revision reveals that out of the 2.84 crore voters across Kerala, 15,018,010 are women, 13,412,470 are men, and 281 identify as transgender. Additionally, there are 2,841 overseas electors eligible to vote.
A detailed district-wise breakdown of the electorate shows: Thiruvananthapuram (2,904,092), Kollam (2,254,848), Pathanamthitta (1,054,752), Alappuzha (1,789,549), Kottayam (1,629,096), Idukki (907,102), Ernakulam (2,647,066), Thrissur (2,736,862), Palakkad (2,411,914), Malappuram (3,574,802), Kozhikode (2,663,817), Wayanad (640,183), Kannur (2,114,668), and Kasaragod (1,102,010).
This revised list, finalized with January 1, 2025, as the qualifying date for new enrollments, will be used for 17,337 wards across 941 grama panchayats, 3,240 wards in 87 municipalities, and 421 wards within six Corporations.
