On the upcoming Ayurveda Day, Kerala is proud to announce the launch of 12 significant AYUSH projects, representing a substantial investment of ₹14.39 crore.
While many of these initiatives are formally being introduced, some are already actively serving the community. These include a comprehensive maternity care program, an advanced e-hospital network connecting 240 healthcare facilities, the innovative AYUSH Yoga Club app designed to promote daily yoga practice, and specialized clinics focusing on non-communicable diseases.
The grand Ayurveda Day celebrations will be graced by Health Minister Veena George, who will officially inaugurate all 12 projects.
Among the standout programs are ‘Suthikamitram,’ which offers scientific, Ayurveda-based training for women in prenatal and postnatal care, ensuring vital support for mothers and children statewide. Complementing this is ‘Supraja,’ a holistic maternal and child health initiative focused on enhancing the well-being of women throughout pregnancy and after childbirth, alongside fostering healthy development for their children.
With over 10,000 yoga clubs already thriving across Kerala, promoting yoga for lifestyle disease prevention, a new AYUSH Yoga Club app has been developed. This app will make it easier for individuals to locate and join nearby yoga clubs.
The new specialty clinics for non-communicable diseases will leverage Ayurveda’s full potential, offering extensive interventions for the prevention and management of various lifestyle-related ailments.
Furthermore, the ‘Ayurkarma’ scheme, accessible through government Ayurveda dispensaries, provides complete Ayurvedic treatments, including Panchakarma therapies, specifically for economically vulnerable citizens.
Finally, the National Programme for Prevention and Management of Osteoarthritis and Other Musculoskeletal Disorders is a crucial public health effort to prevent, control, and treat a range of bone and muscle conditions. The accompanying specialty clinics for joint and musculoskeletal disorders will ensure that the public can readily access the highly effective Ayurvedic benefits for these conditions.
