The Kerala State Electronics Development Corporation (Keltron) is poised for significant growth, aiming to hit an ambitious ₹2,000 crore turnover by 2031. This bold target was announced by Industries Minister P. Rajeeve, highlighting the state-owned enterprise’s strategic ‘Vision 2031’ initiative.
Speaking at the foundation stone laying ceremony for the Electronic Integration Bay of Keltron Krasny Defence Systems Private Limited (KKDS) in Aroor, Minister Rajeeve emphasized Keltron’s vital and unmatched contributions to India’s defence sector. He also noted Keltron’s ongoing international collaborations, including partnerships with companies in Vietnam, which underscore its global reach and technological prowess.
The Minister elaborated on a broader government objective: to transform every household in Kerala into an enterprise hub. Under this progressive scheme, up to 50% of residential spaces can be officially licensed for entrepreneurial activities, and unoccupied homes can be fully converted into business units. This initiative is designed to foster local enterprise and economic independence.
Furthermore, Vision 2031 includes plans to generate small-scale employment, particularly for educated homemakers, by offering them essential training in electronic assembly work. Minister Rajeeve stressed that Keltron is expected to play a crucial role in realizing this aspect of the vision. The state government is also committed to creating job opportunities within Kerala for approximately 40,000 highly qualified professionals returning from overseas, aiming to integrate their skills into universities and higher education institutions.
Adding to these developments, the Minister revealed that approval has been granted for establishing ten new campus industrial parks across Kerala. These parks are anticipated to significantly bolster the state’s burgeoning knowledge economy.
The newly launched KKDS, as described by Minister Rajeeve, marks a pivotal moment for the defence industry. It is specifically designed to harness Keltron’s advanced technological capabilities for the intricate production of underwater defence electronic systems, reinforcing the corporation’s strategic importance.
The event was presided over by MLA Daleema Jojo.
