P. Madhusudhan Reddy, the esteemed Director of Municipal Administration, conducted a comprehensive review of various ongoing development projects in Cuddalore this past Saturday. These vital works are being spearheaded by the Municipal Administration and Water Supply (MAWS) Department, showcasing a strong commitment to urban improvement.
During his detailed discussions, Mr. Reddy specifically delved into the progress of the ambitious underground drainage system project, which is currently underway across 12 wards within the Cuddalore Corporation. This extensive network involves laying pipelines spanning 148.70 kilometers and is set to significantly benefit over 14,134 households by enhancing sanitation and public health.
A key directive from the Director was the insistence on the timely completion of all projects. He also stressed the importance of minimizing public inconvenience, particularly by ensuring prompt restoration of roads that have been disrupted by the ongoing sewer laying operations.
The review also covered significant commercial infrastructure developments, including the construction of 122 new shops in the bustling Anna market, a project estimated at an investment of ₹5.03 crore. Additionally, plans for another modern market in New Town, valued at ₹5.27 crore, were scrutinized.
Further discussions focused on critical civic enhancements such as the development of eco-friendly temporary structures at Silver Beach, aiming to achieve the prestigious Blue Flag certification. The implementation of the 24×7 water supply under the Amrut 2.0 scheme, a substantial undertaking with an estimated cost of ₹28.67 crore, was also reviewed. Plans for a state-of-the-art bus terminus at Arisiperiyankuppam, budgeted at ₹36 crore, were also part of the comprehensive assessment.
In his closing remarks, Director Reddy reiterated his firm instructions to officials across various departments under MAWS. He urged them to not only meet their stipulated timelines but also to rigorously monitor project execution to ensure quality and efficiency. Cuddalore District Collector Sibi Adhithya Senthil Kumar and other key officials from relevant departments were present during this crucial review.
