In a significant development for Karnataka politics, MLC and Congress leader Saleem Ahmed declared on Sunday that a thorough investigation by the B.K. Singh-led Special Investigation Team (SIT) would finally expose the truth behind the alleged manipulation of electoral rolls in several Assembly constituencies across the state. Speaking from Hubballi, Mr. Ahmed conveyed a strong sense of assurance regarding the ongoing probe.
“The SIT is specifically tasked with investigating the purported electoral fraud in the Aland and Mahadevpura constituencies. We are fully confident that this process will uncover the complete reality of what transpired,” Mr. Ahmed stated to reporters, emphasizing the gravity of the situation.
He further added that the state government is prepared to act decisively. “Those found guilty by the SIT’s findings will face appropriate legal and punitive measures initiated by the State government,” Ahmed confirmed, signaling a firm stance against any wrongdoing.
Addressing broader concerns, Mr. Ahmed criticized the Central government and the Election Commission, alleging their collective involvement in creating systemic issues. “They have systematically compromised the electoral revision process nationwide. This is precisely why the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, recently presented comprehensive details, data, and statistics regarding these alleged irregularities during his press conference,” he asserted.
When questioned about the upcoming social and educational survey in the state, Mr. Ahmed sought to allay fears from the opposition. “Any concerns raised by the Opposition regarding this survey are entirely unfounded,” he reassured.
“Our commitment is to ensure that no community or group faces injustice through this initiative. We firmly uphold the Constitutional principles of equality and equal opportunity, and we will guarantee that justice is delivered to all segments of society,” he concluded, highlighting the government’s dedication to fairness.
