Bengaluru: Kannada actress Divya Suresh has been booked in connection with a hit-and-run case that occurred in Bengaluru’s Byatarayanapura area earlier this month. The actress, known for her participation in Bigg Boss Kannada, was identified after police reviewed CCTV footage. The footage showed her vehicle colliding with a motorcycle around 1:30 AM on October 4 near Nithya Hotel, after which she allegedly fled the scene.
The complaint was filed on October 7 by 25-year-old Kiran G. He stated that he was riding his motorcycle with his cousins, Anusha (33) and Anitha (24), when a speeding black car hit them from behind, throwing all three onto the road. Anitha sustained a significant leg fracture and required hospitalization, while Kiran and Anusha suffered minor injuries. Kiran mentioned that he delayed reporting the incident due to his focus on Anitha’s medical care.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), the driver of the car did not stop to offer assistance to the injured victims.
M. Puttamma, Assistant Commissioner of Police for the Byatarayanapura traffic division, confirmed that legal proceedings have commenced against Divya Suresh. She has been booked under Section 281 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for rash or negligent driving and Section 125A for acts endangering life or personal safety. Police will be issuing notices to summon her for questioning.
Investigators utilized CCTV footage from multiple locations to piece together the incident, which clearly showed the car hitting the motorcycle. The vehicle’s registration number was traced back to Suresh, leading to the registration of a case under relevant sections of the BNS and the Motor Vehicles Act. The police are continuing their investigation and will question Suresh further to establish the exact sequence of events leading to the collision.
