A serious development has emerged in Kallakurichi, where a police head constable from the Kariyalur station was taken into custody on Monday. The arrest was made under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, initiated after grave allegations of sexual harassment involving a 17-year-old girl surfaced.
Police officials confirmed that this decisive action was a direct result of a formal complaint lodged by the victim’s mother at the Kallakurichi All Women Police Station.
During the subsequent inquiry, head constable Prabhu was called in for questioning. The initial investigation thoroughly corroborated the allegations made against him. Following this, a comprehensive case was officially registered, charging him under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the POCSO Act, leading to his prompt arrest.
