In a significant move by law enforcement, two sub-inspectors in Kadapa district have been suspended from their duties. The suspensions come amidst serious allegations of corruption and severe mishandling of legal cases.
One of the suspended officers is G. Madhusudhan Reddy, a Sub-Inspector formerly stationed at Pendlimarri police station. His suspension stems from accusations of dereliction of duty concerning a suspicious death investigation. The case involves 46-year-old Sudha Subbaiah, who was discovered deceased on March 29 this year on land owned by Bala Anki Reddy near Machanuru. Initially, police had registered the incident as a death from unknown causes under Section 194 of the BNS.
Despite Subbaiah’s wife lodging a formal police complaint expressing strong suspicions about her husband’s death, the Sub-Inspector allegedly persisted in classifying it as a sunstroke fatality. Disturbingly, the official post-mortem report, which definitively cited organophosphate poisoning as the cause of death, was received in May this year. Yet, sources indicate that no appropriate or corrective action was taken following this crucial finding.
The victim’s father, Sudha Narayana, eventually escalated the matter to the Superintendent of Police earlier this month. In response, the SP initiated an internal inquiry, led by Deputy Superintendent Balaswamy Reddy of the Women’s Police Station. This investigation ultimately concluded that SI G. Madhusudhan Reddy was indeed guilty of serious dereliction of duty.
In a separate but equally troubling development, Hrushikesava Reddy, the Sub-Inspector of Talla Proddatur Police Station in Kondapuram mandal, has also been suspended. His suspension is due to grave corruption charges. It is alleged that SI Hrushikesava Reddy exploited his position to coerce local farmers into relinquishing their land to a company planning to establish a solar power plant within his jurisdiction. He reportedly resorted to threats to force some farmers to sign over their property.
Deputy Inspector-General Koya Praveen made the decision to suspend both officers, acting upon a detailed report submitted by Superintendent of Police Nachiket Vishwanath Shelke.
