Kadapa police recently launched a targeted campaign against the illegal production of counterfeit branded goods, culminating in a major raid on Sunday, October 5, 2025. This operation successfully uncovered a local forging outlet engaged in the manufacturing of fake products, infringing on established trademarks.
The investigation began after JSW Steel Coated, a subsidiary of the prominent ‘JSW Steel’ company, received a critical tip-off regarding the unauthorized use of its distinctive ‘JSW Silver’ trademark on certain shutter products. Acting swiftly, the company engaged a third-party agency, whose diligent inquiry eventually traced the illicit activity back to SDS & Sons in Kadapa.
Armed with compelling evidence of trademark infringement, the Kadapa police, in collaboration with JSW Steel’s investigative team, executed a raid on the SDS & Sons establishment. The operation resulted in the significant seizure of eighteen counterfeit shutter components, all illegally branded with ‘JSW Silver’, along with the specialized mould used to create these fraudulent etchings.
Following the raid, the Kadapa Taluk police officially registered FIR No. 323/2025 against SDS & Sons. The charges include violations under sections 417, 420, 482, 483, 485, and 486 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), in addition to sections 102, 103, 104, and 107 of the Trademarks Act, underscoring the severity of the counterfeiting operation.
