K. Kavitha, president of Telangana Jagruthi, has strongly denounced the profit share bonus allocated to employees of Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), demanding that they receive their fair share from the company’s gross profits for the 2024-25 financial year.
Addressing a gathering in Srirampur, Mancherial district, during Bathukamma celebrations on Tuesday, Kavitha asserted that the State government had delivered a ‘raw deal’ to SCCL workers. She pointed out that the announced 34% bonus was based on the company’s net profits, a calculation method that would lead to significant financial detriment for every single employee.
In her critical remarks, Kavitha also called upon the State government to immediately settle the substantial dues of approximately ₹42,000 crore owed to SCCL. She further accused the Congress government of seeking substantial loans from the public sector entity and engaging in gold and copper exploration in Karnataka, rather than concentrating on establishing new coal mines to strengthen SCCL’s financial position within Telangana.
Kavitha concluded by stating that Telangana Jagruthi’s subsequent actions on this matter would be determined after extensive consultations with SCCL workers and various community sections, highlighting a commitment to collective advocacy for employee rights.
