In a deeply moving turn of events, two mothers who suffered the unimaginable loss of their children during the tragic school collapse in Piplodi, Jhalawar, are now finding a glimmer of hope. Binti Bai and Raju Bai, who had previously undergone sterilisation, are set to undergo recanalisation surgery, a procedure aimed at reversing sterilisation. This initiative offers them a chance to experience motherhood once more after the devastating incident on July 25th, which claimed the lives of seven children and left many others injured.
Both women had chosen sterilisation as part of family planning measures before the tragedy struck. Following the loss of their children, they were provided with essential psychological counseling. Dr. Sajid Khan, Chief Medical and Health Officer of Jhalawar, shared, “The loss of their children left both mothers in profound shock and depression after the tragedy. We provided them with counselling from our psychologists and encouraged them to regain motherhood through recanalisation.” He further explained that this complex surgery is performed in rare circumstances, and the decision to conduct it in Jhalawar was to offer hope to the affected families.
In a commendable display of support, district authorities have ensured that Binti Bai and Raju Bai will have access to IVF facilities in Kota and Jaipur. The initiative was reportedly prompted by former chief minister Vasundhara Raje and MP Dushyant Singh, who directed the district collector to arrange for these life-changing surgeries. District Collector Ajay Singh Rathore specifically tasked Dr. Khan with assembling a medical team to facilitate the reversal procedures, allowing the mothers to potentially experience motherhood again after their profound grief.
Raju Bai underwent her sterilisation reversal surgery last month, while Binti Bai had her procedure successfully completed this Wednesday at Heera Bai Kanwar Women’s Hospital in Jhalawar, performed by Dr. Madhurima Verma and her team. This compassionate medical intervention aims to bring solace and a renewed sense of hope to these grieving mothers.
