A significant development occurred in Patna on Sunday, November 2, 2025, as a local court ordered a 14-day judicial custody for Anant Singh, the Janata Dal (United) candidate for the Mokama assembly seat, and two of his associates. This decision comes in connection with the murder of Dular Chand Yadav, a supporter of the Jan Suraaj Party.
Mr. Singh, a former Member of Legislative Assembly in Bihar, along with his two alleged accomplices, Manikant Thakur and Ranjeet Ram, had been previously arrested in connection with Yadav’s death. They were formally presented before the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) in Patna.
Naveen Kumar, Mr. Singh’s lawyer, confirmed to reporters that “The court has remanded Singh and the two others to judicial custody for a period of two weeks.”
Following the court’s order, they were promptly transferred to Patna’s notorious Beur Jail.
