A senior police official announced on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, that over 100 anti-terrorist operations are conducted daily across the Jammu division. He acknowledged that the presence of foreign terrorists in the region’s dense forests poses a significant challenge, confirming that active measures are in progress to neutralize them.
Inspector General of Police (IGP), Jammu Zone, Bhim Sen Tuti, highlighted how terrorists and criminals are increasingly employing advanced technologies, such as drones, to breach security defenses. However, he assured the public that security agencies are consistently two steps ahead, dedicated to preserving internal security.
Mr. Tuti’s remarks followed a poignant wreath-laying ceremony at the Police Martyrs Memorial near Jammu railway station, and a subsequent event at Gulshan Ground within the police headquarters. Both ceremonies were held to honor the valiant individuals who sacrificed their lives for the nation on Police Commemoration Day.
This day specifically commemorates ten courageous CRPF martyrs who made the ultimate sacrifice on October 21, 1959. They tragically lost their lives during an ambush by heavily armed Chinese troops in Hot Springs, Ladakh, at a daunting altitude of 4,681 meters.
The Jammu Police chief acknowledged that foreign terrorists have posed a significant challenge in the region over the past two years. He reassured the public, stating, “We are actively reinforcing our counter-terrorism and border protection measures. I am confident that we will soon effectively address and neutralize the foreign terrorists currently concealed within the forest areas.”
Mr. Tuti revealed that approximately 120 counter-terrorist operations are launched daily across the Jammu zone. He explained, “This is an ongoing daily duty, encompassing both speculative and precise intelligence-driven operations.” He further emphasized that combating terrorism forms a crucial component of their responsibilities.
He clarified that the sacrifices made by personnel battling terrorism in the Jammu zone represent just one aspect of their extensive duties. “Beyond this,” Mr. Tuti added, “we must also remember those comrades martyred while performing traffic duties or confronting criminals. While fighting terrorism is a primary responsibility, our duties encompass a broad spectrum. We salute all our brave comrades who have made the ultimate sacrifice.”
The IGP extended his heartfelt tributes to all police personnel who laid down their lives for the country, assuring that the force remains eternally grateful to their families.
While acknowledging that specific strategies and tactics cannot be disclosed publicly, the IGP affirmed, “I want to assure the people that the Jammu and Kashmir Police fully understands its duty and responsibility, and will spare no effort to ensure their safety and security.”
When questioned about terrorists utilizing technologies such as drones, Mr. Tuti stated that the police force is equally adept at adopting and deploying modern gadgets to counter these threats.
Mr. Tuti reiterated that terrorists and criminals continuously evolve their tactics to compromise the security grid. However, he emphasized, “We are implementing robust countermeasures, and our objective is always to stay two steps ahead of their operations.”
He noted the significant transformation in policing over the years, with a current focus on “data-driven and evidence-based” methods. This approach aims to deliver efficient and effective policing while minimizing costs.
“Our paramount duty is to maintain internal security, and we are prepared to make any sacrifice to fulfill this commitment,” Mr. Tuti declared. “We have been combating terrorism for over three decades, and we will persist in this fight until this menace is entirely eradicated.”
As part of the Police Commemoration Day observances, the Jammu and Kashmir Police organized a blood donation camp at the Jammu police headquarters on Monday, October 20, 2025. A total of 125 personnel from diverse wings, battalions, and district units throughout the Jammu Zone generously volunteered to donate blood.
Concurrently, solemn commemorative events took place across all ten districts of Jammu, including the Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy in Udhampur. These functions saw extensive participation from senior police officers, retired personnel, families of martyrs, and members of civil society, all gathered to pay their respects.
