A large-scale search operation is currently in progress for two Bhavani Deeksha devotees who are feared to have drowned in the sacred Godavari River. The tragic incident took place at Pushkar Ghat in Rajamahendravaram on September 27th.
The two individuals were reportedly taking their daily holy dip as part of their spiritual ritual when they were overwhelmed by the strong currents. Assistant District Fire Officer P. Srinivas confirmed the identities of the missing devotees as Gobbula Bapiraju, 28, from Pentapalli village, Gokavaram mandal, and Rayudu Veerababu, 25, from Sriramapuram village, Rajanagaram mandal, both located in East Godavari district.
Mr. Srinivas highlighted the significant obstacles faced by the rescue teams, stating, “The search operation is extremely challenging due to the substantial inflows into the Godavari River. We were forced to suspend our efforts overnight.” Despite tireless endeavors, the Rajamahendravaram city police reported on Sunday that the two devotees remain untraced, intensifying concerns as the search continues into another day.
