Even with challenging rain and overcast skies, the CSIR-Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CSIR-CCMB) in Hyderabad successfully hosted its annual ‘Open Day’ on Friday, drawing a significant number of students and schoolchildren eager to engage with scientists and delve into ongoing research.
This special event also marked a significant milestone: the 40th anniversary of the institute’s relocation to its current campus in Habsiguda. Visitors were treated to a diverse array of exhibits showcasing cutting-edge work on infectious, genetic, and lifestyle diseases, with detailed explanations of their cellular and molecular foundations, as well as their crucial medical implications.
Dr. Vinay K. Nandicoori, the Director of CSIR-CCMB, highlighted the importance of the initiative in a press release. “We are deeply committed to this program, as it serves to enlighten and inspire young minds about the vast opportunities available within various scientific research domains,” he stated, emphasizing the institute’s dedication to nurturing the next generation of scientific talent.
