An Indigo flight en route from Kanpur to Delhi faced a substantial delay of over three hours at Kanpur airport. The disruption occurred after passengers alerted the cabin crew to the unsettling presence of a rat scurrying within the aircraft’s cabin. The incident led to the immediate evacuation of all 140 passengers as a precautionary measure.
The flight, which was scheduled to depart for Delhi at 2:55 PM, was delayed significantly. Airport authorities confirmed the presence of the rodent onboard and initiated a search, which lasted approximately an hour and a half. Following the search and necessary checks, the flight eventually departed at 6:03 PM, arriving in Delhi at 7:16 PM.
This incident follows a recent similar occurrence where an Indigo flight from Mumbai to Phuket was diverted to Chennai due to a bomb threat that was later deemed a hoax. In that case, relevant authorities and CISF personnel conducted a thorough inspection of the aircraft. The airline stated that passenger safety and security remain their top priority, and arrangements were made for the inconvenienced passengers.
