Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently marked a significant milestone in India’s renewable energy journey, virtually inaugurating the groundbreaking 300-MW solar power plant located in Ramagiri, Sri Sathya Sai district. Spanning an impressive 1,047 acres, this monumental project was developed by the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), underscoring a strong commitment to sustainable power generation.
During the inauguration event, district Collector A. Shyam Prasad presided over the proceedings, passionately emphasizing the solar plant’s transformative potential for the region and the nation.
Addressing a gathering of officials and local farmers, Collector Prasad proudly noted Andhra Pradesh’s established leadership in the Renewable Energy (RE) sector, currently generating close to 5,000 MW of solar power. The state’s dedication to green energy solutions is evident, with this new plant propelling it further.
Highlighting the sheer scale of ambition, Mr. Shyam Prasad declared that “The Ramagiri project is poised to dramatically increase our solar power production to an astounding 10,000 MW, firmly establishing Ramagiri as a beacon of clean energy innovation.” He also underlined the significant socio-economic benefits, particularly for the district’s youth, anticipating substantial new employment opportunities.
In a symbolic gesture, the Collector, joined by senior SECI officials, unveiled commemorative plaques, reinforcing the strategic national importance of the Ramagiri solar project.
Concluding his remarks, Collector Prasad affirmed that beyond energy production, “This project will be a catalyst for holistic regional growth, contributing significantly to community welfare initiatives, enhancing local education and healthcare facilities, and boosting overall infrastructure development.”
