In a significant move to bolster educational infrastructure across the nation, the Union Cabinet officially approved the establishment of 57 new Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) on Wednesday, October 1, 2025. This decision, announced by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, marks a major expansion for the renowned central school system.
A breakdown of the new schools reveals a collaborative approach: seven of these Kendriya Vidyalayas will be directly sponsored by the Union Home Ministry, playing a key role in their setup and operations. The remaining 50 institutions will receive support and sponsorship from various state governments, fostering a shared responsibility in educational development.
Minister Vaishnaw, during a media briefing detailing the Cabinet’s decisions, highlighted the current strength of the Kendriya Vidyalaya network, stating that there are currently 1,288 KVs in operation. This upcoming addition of 57 schools will further expand the reach and capacity of these popular educational institutions, providing quality education to more students across diverse regions.
