The South Western Railway (SWR) has rolled out ‘Special Campaign 5.0’, a dedicated initiative designed to embed cleanliness and significantly reduce pending tasks across all its government offices.
This comprehensive drive, launched on October 2nd and running until October 31st, follows direct mandates from the esteemed Railway Board and the Cabinet Secretariat.
A primary goal of this campaign is to ensure a pristine environment, achieving complete ‘Swachhata’ (cleanliness) in every government office, spanning field units and all customer-facing service points.
This year, there’s a heightened focus on the environmentally responsible disposal of electronic waste, like old computers and printers. Furthermore, the systematic management and disposal of general scrap and obsolete materials are being emphasized to not only maintain order but also to generate maximum revenue.
To achieve these aims, extensive cleanliness drives are being conducted diligently across all railway stations, administrative offices, and other crucial public interaction areas.
Beyond cleanliness, a crucial objective is to drastically cut down on pending work. This includes fast-tracking the resolution of long-standing matters such as references from Members of Parliament, State governments, inter-ministerial consultations, Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) inquiries, and Parliamentary Assurances that have been outstanding for more than three months.
Simultaneously, significant efforts are underway to promptly address public grievances and appeals submitted via the CPGRAMS portal and other communication channels. This also involves simplifying existing rules and processes to boost overall operational efficiency.
Additionally, the campaign highlights effective record and space management. This includes thorough reviews and culling of physical files, the efficient closure of electronic files, and general office beautification, all in strict adherence to CSMOP, GFR, and the Public Records Act of 1993.
All South Western Railway field units have been instructed to treat this initiative with the highest priority. Its progress is under stringent observation directly by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), with dedicated nodal officers providing regular updates via the DARPG monitoring portal, as confirmed in a statement by Chief Public Relations Officer Manjunath Kanamadi.
