In a thrilling update to the ICC Women’s ODI rankings, India’s versatile all-rounder Deepti Sharma has made significant strides, advancing two places to secure the fifth spot among bowlers. Meanwhile, batting superstar Smriti Mandhana continues her reign at the top of the batters’ list, achieving a career-high rating following her exceptional display in the recently concluded home series against Australia.
Mandhana truly lit up the three-match series, smashing two magnificent centuries. Although Australia claimed the series 2-1, Mandhana’s incredible form saw her rating soar to an impressive 818 points, solidifying her position as the world’s leading ODI batter just before the World Cup, which is set to commence on September 30 in Guwahati.
Deepti Sharma’s consistent performance, marked by a pair of two-wicket hauls against Australia, propelled the Indian off-spinner to fifth place with 651 points. Elsewhere, South African pacer Ayabonga Khaka also saw a notable jump, moving up three spots to 15th with 548 points after her 2/36 against Pakistan in Lahore, despite challenging conditions.
Adding to India’s rising talent, Kranti Gaud continues her strong start in international cricket, climbing 23 positions to 39th. However, England’s Sophie Ecclestone maintains a comfortable lead as the top-ranked ODI bowler with 795 rating points, holding an 85-point advantage heading into the World Cup.
Beyond Mandhana’s enduring dominance, Tazmin Brits of South Africa made the most remarkable surge in the batting rankings. She ascended 15 spots to sixth (669 rating points) after delivering consecutive unbeaten centuries during the Proteas’ series victory in Lahore. Brits boasts an impressive average of 91.85, accumulating 643 runs at a strike rate of 94.14 in ODIs during the 2025 calendar year. This marks a dramatic rise for the prolific Protea, who was ranked 73rd at the start of September 2023.
Pakistan’s Sidra Amin also enjoyed a strong series, making a 10-spot leap. Her scores of 121 not out, 122, and 50 not out across the three matches earned her a career-high rating of 636 points, placing her 13th and just 19 points shy of a top 10 position.
Australia’s Beth Mooney also closed some ground on the top two, moving up two spots with 727 points, though Mandhana’s lead remains significant. Other notable movements further down the list include Australia’s Georgia Voll, who climbed 28 places to 61st, and Pakistan’s Natalia Pervaiz, who, despite being outside the top 100, advanced 54 spots thanks to a crucial half-century in the second ODI.
In the all-rounder rankings, South Africa’s Marizanne Kapp is inching closer to Ash Gardner at the top. Kapp surpassed Hayley Matthews to claim second place (420 points) after her impressive century and two-wicket haul in back-to-back matches. Her teammate Chloe Tryon also demonstrated her capabilities in spin-friendly conditions, securing a two-wicket haul during the series. Australia’s Tahlia McGrath also saw an improvement, moving up nine spots to 30th (128 points) for her steady performance with the ball.
