In a significant announcement, the Indian selectors, headed by Ajit Agarkar, revealed the formidable Indian cricket team set to challenge West Indies in a two-Test series. The much-anticipated squad was formally declared on Thursday, September 25, 2025.
Dynamic all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been entrusted with the crucial role of vice-captain, supporting Shubman Gill, who will lead the team as captain.
Following Rishabh Pant’s unfortunate injury during the recent England series, young wicket-keeper Dhruv Jurel has earned a call-up to serve as the primary gloveman for the squad.
Joining him is Tamil Nadu’s N. Jagadeesan, who has been named as the second wicket-keeper, providing further depth in the keeping department.
A notable change from the previous series against England is the exclusion of Karun Nair, who faced a challenging performance period. His spot has been filled by promising batsman Devdutt Padikkal, who makes his entry into the Test squad.
Apart from these strategic adjustments, the selectors have largely maintained faith in the core group of players who participated in the challenging England tour, ensuring continuity and experience within the team.
