In a major announcement, Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia revealed that India Post is preparing to launch a new suite of guarantee-based mail and parcel services. These innovative offerings will ensure delivery within strict timelines of 24 and 48 hours, providing much-needed speed and reliability to customers across the nation.
Minister Scindia confirmed that these accelerated services, including the 24-hour and 48-hour mail delivery, as well as next-day parcel delivery, are slated to commence from January onwards. This marks a significant stride towards modernizing the venerable postal department.
“We are excited to introduce these new products that come with guaranteed delivery commitments for both mails and parcels,” Mr. Scindia stated. “The 24-hour Speed Post service will ensure mails reach their destination within a day, while the 48-hour Speed Post guarantees delivery within two days.”
He further elaborated on the upcoming parcel services, highlighting their goal to drastically cut down current delivery times. “Currently, parcels can take anywhere from 3 to 5 days to be delivered. Our new next-day parcel delivery option will ensure that your package arrives the very next day,” the Minister explained, promising a noticeable improvement for users.
This strategic overhaul is part of the government’s broader vision to revitalize India Post. The Minister emphasized the ambitious objective to transform the department’s financial standing, shifting it from being a ‘cost center’ to a ‘profit center’ by the year 2029, reflecting a strong commitment to efficiency and customer satisfaction.
